I have been stressing out over the ways I keep failing and stagnating as a Christian.  When I told God I loved Him, all I thought was that He was thinking all the ways I didn't love Him like I should. I saw all the things I thought God wanted me to be and got frustrated. I told Him what I thought. He brought to mind this particular aspect of my past relationship with this man.

Suddenly I understood. I said, "You mean that I've been putting expectations on myself that you don't have of me?" You have no idea the relief that flooded through me. He just wanted me to go on being me and trusting in His love for me, and He would take care of the rest.

If we waited until we were perfect to get married, none of us would ever get married. If we try to be "good enough" for God before going to Him, we'll never get there. It's being in the relationship that is what's important, not what we cannot do. I may fail sometimes in the relationship but, just like a child who gets up and tries again after he falls when first trying to walk, I'll keep going until I grow stronger and learn balance. He won't leave me regardless of how often I fail or succeed; He's just glad that I'm there.
